For the third successive time a Bridlington Town match ended with a goal in stoppage time.
Bridlington looked uncertain at the back early on and Adam Johnston caused confusion early on that nearly led to a Whitley Bay goal.
Bridlington had chances at the other end that were frequently innitiated by Steve Swales balls into the box from the left that tested Bay keeper Terence Burke.At the other end Nick Baxter had to react quickly to save bravely at the feet of Johnston on 16 minutes.
Bridlington Took the lead on 28 minutes. Whitley Bay failed to head clear a Steve Swales cross and Paul Palmer nipped in to drive home from 10 yards.
The visitors hit back on 35 minutes after Bridlington lost possession and Andrew Fairlamb took advantage to hit a 20 yard shot past Nick Baxter to level the scores.
Seven minutes later Bay took the lead. Town Keeper Baxter was somewhat unfortunate to be penalised for bringing down Leadbitter in the box. Adam Johnston despatched the spot kick to give Bay a half time 1-2 lead.
Bridlington looked brighter early in the second half with Paul Wilson and Martin Thacker testing Burke but couldn't get back on level terms as Whitley Bay broke quickly to force Town back again.
Brid manager Billy Heath brought on Carl Giblin and this upped the pace for the home side. Immediately another chance came but Burke managed to parry away Swales shot.
With Town caught pressing for an equaliser, Bay's Leadbitter had a chance to wrap things up but fired wide on 87 minutes.
The game had entered stoppage time when Bridlington were awarded a free kick. Martin Thacker floated a free kick into the box and as Bay failed to clear Steve Heath pounced to force the ball over the line and earn Bridlington a replay on Tuesday night.
