Brigg Town 1(1)(Roach 13)
Bridlington Town 2(0)(Lewis 65, Thacker pen 76)
Att: 100est
Referee: P.Cook
NCEL Champions Bridlington Town notched their second pre-season win at Vase winners Brigg, gaining revenge for last seasons ¼ final defeat. Bridlington had started the more sprightly, Burdick going close with a header grazing the post. Burdick thought he had given Bridlington the lead on 13 mins but his headed goal was disallowed for a push. Brigg surged up field and switched play across. A ball to the far post found Roach who headed the home side in front, perhaps against the run of play. Brigg came into the game more for the remainder of the half but there was no further scoring. HT 1 – 0
Bridlington changed nine players for the second half and were again spirited in their efforts. The reward came on 65 minutes when a Baker through ball was slotted to perfection for Lewis. Lewis cut in and rifled the ball into the roof of the net to level the score. More Bridlington pressure paid off when a long Kelly clearance found Edeson. As he laid the ball off the referee judged hand ball and awarded a second penalty in two games to Bridlington. Once again Thacker stepped up to give the visioers the lead on 76 mins. Brigg were industrious in their efforts for an equaliser but Bridlington held firm. FT 1 – 2
