Bridlington was the first to show. A Thacker free kick was headed goalward by Kevin Smith and Walker had to tip round for a corner. Scarborough created a chance for Rose but Steve Heath covered well and Kelly gathered bravely. Scarborough's next attack saw the ball lifted in and again Kelly was brave but both he and the Scarbrough striker needed treatment for the clash. On 22 mins a Nick Houghton ball in was handled by Scarbrough defender Steve Baker and Thacker scored from the spot. 1 - 0. Scarborough went on the offensive and David Pounder turned well on the edge of the box and his shot drew an excellent save from Kelly on 26 mins. Play was swinging both ways but Bridlington almost increased their lead on 39 mins when Palmer crossed back in after a corner and Steve Heaths' shot hit the post. HT 1 - 0

Bridlington made a complete team swap for the second half and Scarborough also made several changes. With just a minute of the half gone Scarbrough gained a free kick just outside the home box. Yale's curled effort going just wide of the post. Just before the hour Scarborough's Tom Raw fired in from the right but Wardale in Town's goal held well. Bridlington attacked and Danny Drayton found Burdick in space but he couldn't control his shot and fired wide on 61mins. On 68 minutes a well worked Scarborough short corner found Scott Kerr. He fired in low and Karl Rose netted from inside the six yard box to level the score. 1 - 1. On 75 mins Tom Raw was played through but was felled 25 yards out by Lee Jackson. Keith Gilroy took the free but Bridlingtons defensive wall blocked for a corner. Bridlington attacked down the and Burdick was brought down for a free kick. Edeson whipped the ball in with pace and Danny Drayton put a bullet header past Walker to give the home side the lead again on 78 mins. Just three minutes later a long ball from Stuart Baldwin forced Scarborough keeper Walker to race off his line and head clear outside the box under pressure from Drayton. The ball fell to Edeson who skillfully lifted the ball over everyone and into the net to make it 3 - 1 on 81 mins. Edeson and Burdick worked well down the right to earn a throw, from which Scarborough were penalised with an indirect free kick given in the box. Scarborugh cleared but Bridlington were soon back on the attack. No further goals and Bridlington came out worthy winners.
