Ossett Town                 0(0)

Bridlington Town             1(0)(Taylor 54)

Referee: I.Smith

Bridlington took the three points with a single goal against managerless Ossett. Despite the visitors having large chunks of possession Andy Taylor’s goal was all that separated the two sides.

Bridlington were soon on the attack with Martin Thacker feeding Kevin Smith but he headed wide. A further break for Bridlington  through Palmer was thwarted before Ossett broke and James Walshaw brought a save out of Gavin Kelly. Bridlington appealed for a penalty when Taylor appeared to be brought down in the box but the referee waved play on. Just five minutes later Paul Palmer was felled just outside the box and Martin Thacker’s free kick cannoned off the bar. Still the visitors pressed but couldn’t get a decisive touch. Kevin smith went close as the half was going to stoppage time but fired wide as he powered into the box. Ossett launched a long ball and almost caught Bridlington out forcing a desperate scramble in the box before Steve Robinson cleared off the line.

Early in the 2nd half Fidler and Walshaw attacked down the left for Ossett and were awardede a dubious free kick but Bridlington cleared and won a throw down the right. The ball came into Kevin Smith and he laid the ball off to Paul Palmer but Palmer couldn’t keep his shot down and fired over. Bridlington finally took the lead their possession deserved on 54 minutes. Kevin Smith laid the ball out wide to Paul Palmer. Palmer crossed and Smith had torn into the box to get a glancing header to the back post where Andy Taylor was on hand to ram the ball home. Bridlington continued to press and good work for Palmer and Smith earned a corner from which Stuart Baldwin hit the post. Taylor was next to be unlucky as he saw a shot just hit the outside of the post on 64 mins. Ossett were neat in some of their build up but frequently failed to find a way through or find striker Rowe. The best move of the game came with five minutes to go. Shaun Baker played the ball to Matt Edeson, he laid it neatly into the path of Baldwin and Ossett keeper Clark made a great save for a corner. Edeson featured again soon after but his shot on the turn was parried. Ossett threw everyone forward in search of an equaliser and agin caused a late scramble before Kelly finally gathered and Bridlington claimed the points.
