Bridlington Town            2(1)(Baldwin 30, Farley 90)

Referee: W.Smallwood – Barnton

It was another fruitless trip across the country for Bridlington as they went down to Kidsgrove. Bridlington had opened the scoring through Stuart Baldwin before Peter Wild levelled. The home side went infront early in the second half with a penalty from Richard Eyre before adding two further goals through Darren Twigg and Simon Tucker, before a late consolation from Paul Farley for the visitors.

The visitors had started well with Burdick, Harrison and Taylor working well together but Kidsgrove responded with a long ball  for Twigg who blazed over. Burdick and Palmer then combined to give Harrison a chance for Bridlington but his flick went wide. Pressure from Bridlington paid off from a free kick. The first ball in was half cleared, Thacker fed Baldwin and he cut in from the left to curl the ball into the top corner from well outside the box on 30 mins. Kidsgrove were level on 39 mins when Ryan Baker went on a tricky run before laying the ball into Twig. Bridlington Keeper Kelly made a superb block but Peter Wild followed up to net.

Bridlington produced the first effort of the second half. Taylor and Palmer getting the ball to Thacker for a shot, but Kidsgrove launched up field. Another run from Ryan Baker saw him try to cut into the box but he was well shepherded and had to turn away from goal but was felled and the referee awarded a penalty. Eyre slotted home the spot kick with just three mins of the half gone. Bridlington pushed forward looking to level but had left gaps and the long ball from Kidsgrove exploited this again but Town held. After a series of head tennis in the middle the ball broke for Twigg and he tore through to slot past Kelly to make it 3 – 1 on 66 mins. Kidsgrove effectively killed the game on 77 mins following a free kick. The ball came across from right to left then back into the middle where Tucker found too much space and fired home to make it 4 – 1. Despite their efforts Bridlington could only manage a stoppage time equaliser when substitute Paul Farley showed some of the control that the rest of the team had been missing when he gathered, turned and volleyed a consolation goal from the edge of the box.
