Bridlington Town 2-1 Belper Town
Saturday 3rd September
Bridlington Town came from behind to secure the points with two goals out
of the top draw from Paul Palmer.
Bridlington had fallen behind to an excellent Michael Fox goal, a 25 yard
free kick, on 27 minutes. It didn't take long though for Town to hit back
but wasted the chance to equalise.
Bridlingtons Steve Heath was brought down in the Belper box on 33 minutes
but Paul Palmer missed from the retaken spot kick firing over the bar. In
the final 10 minutes of the half Town lay seige to the Belper goal and only
Belper keeper Lee Wilson and the cross bar kept Town at Bay with Palmer and
Steve Swales forcing the pace.
In the second half Palmer levelled matters on the hour with a quality thunderous
30 yard shot in off the bar after some neat skill and a run in midfield that
had the home fans on their feet. Seven minutes later it was Palmer again who
latched on to Martin Thackers through ball to round the keeper and slot in
from a narrow angle to give Brid the lead. Chances came at both ends with
Seb Towse and Paul Wilson showing well for the Seasiders. At the other end
Steve Heath and Carl Giblin defendedcompetently and Keeper Nick Baxter pulled
off a superb save from Fox to ensure the home side secured the points
The Seasiders next travel to Ossett Albion for a league game on Wednesday
night.
